Here are the ways you can print paychecks for your employees:
- Use preprinted check stock: Preprinted check stock already has your company and banking information on it.
- Use Blank Check Stock: Blank check stock is 50-80% cheaper than preprinted check stock. We print your company and banking information on the stock along with the payee information in real time, so checks won't become obsolete if you change bank accounts. To purchase, go to Purchase Blank Check Stock.
- We recommend you use MICR (magnetic ink character recognition) toner or ink to print on blank check stock. Not all printers can print consistently enough to use blank check stock. To test your printer, print a document twice, and then hold both copies together up to a light and look through them to see if there is a difference.
- Hand-write checks or direct deposit employee pay, then print pay stubs only on plain paper: You can pay employees by direct deposit or by writing a check by hand, and then give them their printed pay stubs for a record of taxes and wages paid.
You can also set up your employees to view or print their pay stubs online using our site, PaycheckRecords.com.

Troubleshooting Printing
Is Adobe Reader or Acrobat installed? To view and print paychecks, forms, and other PDFs from our payroll service, you'll need Adobe Reader or Acrobat. You'll need Adobe Reader 7 or later.
To check if Adobe Reader is installed:
- On Windows:
- From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
- Click Programs and then click View installed updates.
- Look for Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat on the list.
- On Mac:
- Open the Finder.
- On the left, click Applications.
- Look for Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat on the list.
You can install the latest version of Adobe Reader for free from the Adobe Reader site.
Is the PDF opening in an Adobe window? After you open one of our paychecks, forms, or check alignment windows, you should see the Adobe logo in the title bar. If the PDF is opening within a browser window instead of an Adobe window, try these steps:
- Start Adobe Reader or Acrobat.
- From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
- In the list on the left, choose Internet.
- Deselect Display PDF in browser and then click OK.
- Sign out of our payroll service, restart your browser and sign in again.
Can't see the window at all? First, make sure the window isn't behind something else on your desktop. Minimize or close windows you're not using to look for an Adobe window, a browser window, or a small window asking for your response.
If the window still isn't opening at all, you may have a popup blocker that's preventing it from opening.
Try deleting cookies If you still have trouble opening the PDF file, you can try deleting your cookies.
Try restarting your computer After installing new software or changing settings, it's a good practice to restart your computer.
