Idaho requires businesses with employees to register for a withholding tax account.
Collect these items in advance of registration:
- EIN
- SSN (or EIN) of all owners, partners, and/or officers
- Physical and mailing address of business
- Date the business began in Idaho and any dates of incorporation (if applicable)
- Information on your expected employee count, first paycheck date, hire date, etc.
To Apply:
- Go to the online Idaho Business Registration application to request your business permits: https://www2.labor.idaho.gov/ibrs/ibr.aspx

- Workers' compensation insurance

- If you have WC insurance w/ third party you will also be notifying Idaho Industrial Commission of that policy

- Review the "Information Needed to Proceed"
- Select the "I have the required information and am ready to proceed button"
- Select the "Create a new account" link
- Follow workflows on the website to apply for:
- Income tax withholding
- Unemployment insurance
